Father's Day Car Show Posters

I was commissioned to create a poster series for a local car enthusiast group, designed to appeal to a broad audience while celebrating the cars and nostalgia surrounding Father's Day car shows. Each year's poster maintained the same size and visual theme, allowing collectors to display the series together.

RESEARCH

For the first poster, there were no specific vehicle requirements beyond an older American classic and a blue color palette. I looked to 1950s/1960s automotive posters for inspiration. Because we had recently completed restoration of a 1957 Chevrolet Tri-Five, I chose that vehicle as the subject.

PROCESS

I selected and recolored an illustrated image of the subject car, built a coordinating color palette, and created a simple composition inspired by vintage automotive advertisements. Shapes, gradients, and nostalgic typography helped reinforce the 1950s/1960s aesthetic.
